Not sure whether I will be in Top 10, hopefully I will. Meanwhile, they only announced the Top 3, others have to wait until end of the event.
A tough race against the China Long Distance Runners, the first four are from their National Team. KunMing is where they based and training, as this place is >1900m above sea level, 3 - 15°C.
Not easy racing at altitude and especially running 2 loops of 4.3km. Second loop had to zigzag-ing around the runners as there is a shorter distance category, which they did only one loop.
Running alone most of the time as being left out in the first km. They were shooting at a pace of 3:03 min in the first km, meanwhile I clocked a 3:16 min. I was at 11th position I think. During the second km, one runner overtook me and he went off with a fast steady pace. Thankfully there were hills, that's where my strength is, took down 2 runners in the first loop.
When comes to the second loop, I got overtook by two runners in the last turn towards the finishing line, they went early together, a gap of 10m between me and them. Eyeing on the finishing line, I dig deep, closed the gap down to 1 - 3m and that's it. Didn't manage to overtake both of them in the end.
Anyway, a good experience racing here. One of the runner recognized me from ChongQing Towerrunning Race where I won it. He got 7th position today. Well done to him!
